"Sleeping Beauty" is a family-friendly pantomime presented by Rainbow Valley Productions at Blackwood Miners' Institute. The story follows King Leo, who, with the help of Nurse Molly Merryweather and the mischievous Jerry the Jester, plans the christening of Aurora, the baby girl he adopted after she was abandoned at the palace gates. The Queen of Vulgaria, an evil sorceress, arrives uninvited and curses Aurora, declaring she will not live beyond her 18th birthday. To protect her, King Leo sends Aurora to live under the name Rosebud. On the eve of her 18th birthday, Aurora meets Prince Justin and learns of her true identity. Despite efforts to protect her, the Wicked Queen's curse causes Aurora to fall into a deep sleep for 100 years. The production is filled with laughter, songs, magic, dancing, and thrilling moments, ensuring an engaging experience for all attendees.
